My name is György Ignácz. I am a Mathematics Teacher. I have created this site to share resources that I have created, others I have come across, and insights that I have had. I believe that any person’s experiences can be a stepping stone for another and I am trying to do my part. I will do my best to keep mathcrutch.com updated with important information as much as possible throughout the year. If you miss a day in class, this will be a great resource for you to get caught up if you aren’t able to meet with me before or after school to get caught up.
“Work hard in school, and you’ll be successful.” That is something every kid in Europe hears, and believes. This mandate, though, leaves out an important side of the equation: Is school working for kids?
It shouldn’t come as any huge surprise the importance of parental Involvement in your kid education.
“…My school had a new “computer programming” course that students could take their junior year. The only prerequisite was that students take “keyboarding” their sophomore year. So I signed up for keyboarding, despite the fact that I could already type faster than I could write. It only took about ten minutes before I realized that taking that class was a huge waste of time. The keyboarding class was taught by a retired secretary. Every desk had a mid-70s typewriter on it. Not a computer… an actual typewriter. The teacher taught us the home keys, then spent the rest of the period calling out letters and having us type them. There was also an entire lesson on how to properly load paper into the machine, and how to change the ink ribbon…“
mathcrutch.com provide free resource including calculator instruction, edited past papers, workout examples, for anyone who wants to use it, and I intend to keep it that way. It does, however, cost me money to run it. So the time I can spend on developing the site is limited. Could you or your institution make a small donation to me? If you click here you can use any credit or debit card with PayPal. You don’t have to be a member of PayPal to use their services, which are guaranteed to be secure.
